Beaumont began his career in Tulsa working for Cities Service Oil Company. Most recently, he is working independently on drilling prospects in Kansas and Oklahoma and working as an exploration geologist for Nadel & Gussman. For the 5 years before that, he was a senior geologist with Cimarex Energy Company in Tulsa working in Oklahoma and SE New Mexico.
Prior to working for Cimarex, Beaumont worked for SM Energy for 2 years and, before that, he was an independent petroleum geologist for 25 years generating prospects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, and Wyoming.
He is past President of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and past President of the Tulsa Geological Society. He has numerous professional publications which include compiling and co-editing the Treatise of Petroleum Geology, a 30 volume set of books published by the AAPG.
He has presented talks on creative petroleum exploration all over the US and in China and Australia.
He has a BS degree in geology from the University of New Mexico and a MS degree in geology from the University of Kansas.
